2017
For many years I planned to offer an NS-1 style Limited Edition bass. It became clear that the proper time to offer this model was 2017, the 40th Anniversary of the NS curved body shape. And it made the most sense to me to produce it as a EuroLE bass, to make it more affordable to players around the world.
From the start of our Czech-made instruments, I enjoyed working closely with my friends at the factory. After creating successful USA-made SE "Special Edition"short runs, I started the EuroLE "Limited Edition" basses around 2012.
I wanted the Euro4LE 1977 to be extra special and pay proper homage to the original NS-1 basses made in the 1970s. This bass was an updated version of the classic NS-1, not simply a reissue.
I took measurements from a few of my personal vintage 1970s NS-1 basses, including the NS-1 Prototype Bass (check out this bass on Brooklyn Era page!). Leo Quan bridges were out of production at this time, so our standard Euro4 bridge was used but with a unique chrome finish which was mainly reserved for EuroLE basses.
Another key ingredient for this bass was the sourcing of proper high quality North American walnut for the solid body wings.
Other specs included DiMarzio Model P pickups in their proper NS-1 position and orientation (provided by some of my measurements), TonePump active tone controls, a rosewood fretboard with NS-1 style dot markers, and a matte finish.
Approx. 50 Euro4LE 1977 basses were produced in 2017. A big thank you to all of the players around the world who are enjoying their Euro4LE 1977!
