After Kramer's bankruptcy they continued to hold the script Spector name along with other trademark assets in bankruptcy court. Stuart started his new company, Stuart Spector Design, and the instruments were labeled "SSD" until we purchased back the original Spector name trademarks.
My basses are presented below in order of completion. I am the original owner of these basses. The production serial number #002 basses were handcrafted for me.
Special Note
Below is a small sampling from my personal collection. Please check back often as I will be adding more instruments, never before seen photos, stories, & memorabilia on a regular basis!

My SD-5p Prototype #001 is the only SD-5 Prototype bass produced & is the bass that launched the SSD Company. Stuart designed this bass to be a modern (1990s) bass with new (at that time) EMG 40 size soapbar pickups & to compliment these, our new SSD/HAZ 18v active tone controls with custom piezo pickups in the bridge. Note the unique features of this bass including the peghead shape, pre-SSD peghead logo, 'Proto 1' plus month/year '10/91' written in the truss rod slot, signature only on the back of the peghead, & the small half moon fret markers. The string spacing is slightly tighter than the production 5st.

Rare photo alert!
This is the only known photo of Stuart at the small facility prior to the start of the Woodstock workshop!
Approx six SD-5p basses were being produced each month during this time. I took this photo on a rainy evening in the summer of 1992 just before we headed out for Chinese food. Starting that autumn, SSD began production at the workshop's Woodstock location which would be used to produce instruments for decades.

Sheet explaining the five knob setup for 18v active tone controls for EMG pickups & piezo system.
The earliest SSD basses featured the new 18v circuit & included the piezo system. Around the time that the piezo system became an option, the basses were signed with the added "P" to the model name to denote the added piezo option.

The photos of the three of us were taken by Dylan Howe (Steve Howe's son who was playing drums on some YES songs on this tour). You can tell from my hair that it was a rainy day at an outdoor venue!
